Located in the middle of nature, the Hotel Quinta do Marco guarantees you a more sustainable holiday. The concern with sustainability is transversal to the decisions taken by the Hotel team, with the objective of minimizing the environmental impacts, in this new concept of Eco Tourism. Some of the measures already taken:
- Reduction in the use of plastic;
- Our beloved animals, especially sheep, donkeys and chickens, love the fruit and vegetable waste that is a great and important help in maintaining our green spaces. They are also a great source of natural fertiliser, so we avoid the use of external products on our land;
- Efficient management of resource consumption (water and electricity);
- The water is heated using solar panels;
- Use of electric vehicle for hotel logistics and electric buggy to support cleaning activities;
- Our car park is prepared with electric charging sockets for our guests' cars;
- The lighting is done with LED lamps;
- Installation of presence sensors in common areas of the Hotel, avoiding unnecessary expenditure of electricity;
- Air-conditioning cut-off system if the bedroom window is opened;
- Use of low consumption equipment;
- Installation of flow reducers in all taps;
- Use of sun protection films on some glazing in the hotel;
- Most of the garden areas have indigenous species that reduce the need for irrigation. In 2022 we planted more than 200 carob trees on the property;
- Amenities available in individual refill packs;
- Laundry bags available only on request;
- Purchases adjusted to the menus and quantities served, adjusted to avoid waste;
- Availability of rubbish bags with different colours, and respective signage, for recycling in the common areas;
- Preferential use of aromatic herbs and other horticultural products from our vegetable garden.
